The Institute announces Fall 2021 courses. The list includes OT and NT courses for both 8-10th grades and for DE (dual enrollment), Personal Finance (DE), Algebra I, Introductory Logic, and Worldview and Apologetics.
Dual Enrollment:
Old Testament Literature and Interpretation. This course provides an analysis of the Old Testament as the foundation of the whole Bible. It focuses on the theological, literary, and historical dimensions of the Old Testament text and story; draws theological connections to Jesus and the New Testament; and makes application to modern Christianity, both corporate (church) and personal (spiritual growth). Personal Finance. A study of the basic principles of planning and managing personal financial matters. Emphasis is on developing the personal financial planning skills needed to meet individual objectives and goals. (Partnering Institution: Belhaven University)
High School, Adult, Audit:
Algebra I. The first year of the standard High School math progression: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Pre-Calc.
Introductory Logic. Arguments come at us from every side. Are these arguments valid? Should we be persuaded? How should we respond? This course is designed to help us reason according to the Scriptures, recognizing good and bad reasoning in ourselves and others. We will study categorical and propositional logic, informal fallacies, and learn to develop arguments that are both valid and sound.
Old Testament Survey. This class is the first of two that study the most influential book—the Bible. Students will read the entire Old Testament, memorize key passages, learning to interpret and tell the Old Testament story, and applying it to all of life.
Worldview and Apologetics. This course combines uncovering the nuts and bolts of competing worldviews and world religions with practical instruction in defending the Christian worldview. A primary theme in the study is the uniqueness of the Christian worldview in providing explanation of the human condition and the reality of hope for meaning through life in Christ. The course will highlight the inconsistencies inherent in all non-Christian worldviews while emphasizing the completeness and consistency of Biblical Christianity.
